My wife and I were looking for an exotic location for a second honeymoon and after seeing many “Love Boat” episodes” with Puerto vallarta as a port of call, we visited a travel agent.  Two weeks later we booked our trip, and looked forward to a great adventure.

The hotel resort did have parasailing which was an experience we will never forget, but that was the only highlight of the trip.  We expected first class accomodations from a first class hotel.  The three star resort was nice, but there were ants all over the syrup at every table, and flies all over the fruit display.  We were definitely not used to this, including the no-air conditioning lobby.

I think if we were prepared for a different interpretation of first class, we would have loved it.  The pool was elegant and right by the beach, and the scenery was beautiful.  My caution is to realize that even though you pay a lot of money, you should not expect the same for the money everywhere you go.  The town was also small, and it took a while to find a restaurant open when we wanted to eat outside of the hotel.  I think we would visit again, but not for the same price.
