My wife and I were looking for an exotic location for a second honeymoon and after seeing many “Love Boat” episodes” with Puerto vallarta as a port of call, we visited a travel agent. Two weeks later we booked our trip, and looked forward to a great adventure.

The hotel resort did have parasailing which was an experience we will never forget, but that was the only highlight of the trip. We expected first class accomodations from a first class hotel. The three star resort was nice, but there were ants all over the syrup at every table, and flies all over the fruit display. We were definitely not used to this, including the no-air conditioning lobby.

I think if we were prepared for a different interpretation of first class, we would have loved it. The pool was elegant and right by the beach, and the scenery was beautiful. My caution is to realize that even though you pay a lot of money, you should not expect the same for the money everywhere you go. The town was also small, and it took a while to find a restaurant open when we wanted to eat outside of the hotel. I think we would visit again, but not for the same price.

If you want a mountain resort in a ski town, visit Jackson Hole, Wyoming. You can see the beautiful Teton Mountains, and September is a perfect time of year to visit if you are not a skiier (right before the heavy snow falls in the winter months). Downtown has some restaurants that serve a variety of exotic meats, and is a nice walk for the family with stores and tourist items. Of course, there is plenty of skiing during the winter, but the typical ski resorts on the mountain seemed to be bare minimum accomodations, more of a “motel 6′ feel (presumably the price is for the convenience of being located right in front of the ski lift).

For the best resort in Jackson Hole, we strongly recommend The Wyoming Inn. The Wyoming Inn is the most amazing hotel we have visited, with an elegant and spacious lobby, elegant gold brass fixtures in each room, and nice accomodations with large jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces for a romantic getaway. The beds are luxurious and fluffy, and you are pampered with attention the entire time of your stay.

My husband and I plan on returning as soon as we get a chance.
